Jog Falls

India's second-highest plunge waterfall

Back to attractions

The Sharavathi River plunges 830 feet in four distinct cascades — Raja, Rani, Rocket and Roarer.

Jog Falls, or Joga Falls, is the second-highest plunge waterfall in India, created by the Sharavathi River dropping 253 meters in four distinct cascades known as Raja, Rani, Rocket, and Roarer. During the monsoon season (July–September), the falls are at their most spectacular, with thunderous volumes of water creating mist clouds visible from miles away. A viewing platform and a steep stairway of 1,400 steps offer different vantage points. The Linganamakki dam upstream regulates water flow, so the falls are most impressive when the dam's gates are open.
